Who is fighting?
There are some well-defined terms of art (100% correct and 98% confusing) that no one outside of academia and journalism will use. Academics will be fine with that, because they’d need to invent new jargon if their terms ever became popular. Journalists will adapt to whatever is hip.
Everyone else is either going to use the dominant brand name (and it has to be dominant first, almost generic, to succeed at this level), or a simple verb+noun like “watch tv” or “put on goggles.”
